Pregnancy and Mom Magazines Partner with American Family Charity To Create A Joyful and Safe Nursery for A Single Mom

South San Francisco, Calif., August 4, 2010 – Future US, the special-interest media company, affirmed its commitment today to helping families in need of a new baby nursery as part of the annual Pregnancy magazine “A Bright Future” nursery program. This year, Pregnancy and Mom magazines partnered with American Family Charity, whose mission is to help Bay Area children and their families. They selected a single mom living in San Jose, Calif. to receive the complete home nursery.

Janet Camacho, the single mother of an 8-year-old girl is expecting another girl this month. American Family Charity helped choose Janet, a single mother and financial aid advisor for a private college, for “A Bright Future” nursery.

Janet recently suffered from the unexpected death of her long-term boyfriend and father of her unborn child. Her boyfriend was an important father figure to the 8-year-old girl. Since his death, the 8-year-old hasn’t slept on her own for fear that her mom will be gone when she wakes up. This new room and all the donated items will hopefully give her the confidence to sleep in her own bed again. It also ensures the newborn girl will have what she needs when coming home. The new girls’ room will mark a positive beginning for the entire family after a very difficult time. The family is in continued need of support and is accepting donations through American Family Charity.

Pregnancy magazine sought donations from its advertisers to help make the nursery a beautiful and safe space to welcome the new baby girl while creating a fun room for her sister to share. Donated items include a crib, crib mattress, changing table, nursery décor (window treatments, rug, wall art, etc.), cloth diapers, bottles and bedding for a full size bed.

“At Pregnancy and Mom, we celebrate moms and know that a baby’s arrival can be both a joyous and stressful time,” said Debbie Klett, Associate Publisher, Future US. “Each year, we are thrilled to help ease the transition of bringing home a new baby for one special family. We couldn’t have done it without the support of our advertisers and thank American Family Charity for connecting us with the deserving Camacho family.”
