Future US’s Kate Byrne Named to Folio:40’s Director Level Doers List

South San Francisco, Calif., April 28th, 2011 – Future US, the special-interest media company, is excited to announce Kate Byrne, Vice President of the Technology Group, has been named to the Folio:40’s list of Director Level Doers. The Folio:40 honors individuals creating a new chapter for the magazine industry and features distinguished magazine and media professionals.

With an ever-changing media landscape, Byrne overhauled Future’s technology group by rebuilding the team, launching a series of new print and digital products and executing a well-defined app strategy. In 2010, Byrne launched a new print title, Maximum Tech, when many publishers were abandoning print publications. The new title is currently available on newsstands and focuses on personal technology, highlighting high-end consumer electronics. MaximumTech.com launches this spring and Byrne is expected to take the print magazine bi-monthly in 2012.

In addition to Maximum Tech, Byrne launched Mac|Life on the iPad where “Issue Zero” received over 500,000 downloads and was awarded the AdAge Media Vanguard Award for Most Promising Magazine App. By utilizing a different approach than other magazine publishers, Mac|Life asked readers what they wanted in an App, which fueled its success in the App Store.

“I am honored to be in such amazing company and thrilled that the Future US team is getting recognition for its creativity, smart execution and product innovation,” said Kate Byrne. “Stay tuned as this is only the beginning!”
