Jonathan Simpson-Bint

Jonathan joined Future Publishing in 1991 and came to the U.S. in 1993 as part of the original Future Network USA management team. Between 1994 and 1999 Jonathan launched a number of highly successful products including the magazines Next Generation and PSM: 100% Independent PlayStation Magazine , and web portals IGN.com and DailyRadar.com. In 2001 Jonathan was named President of Future Network USA and also served a stint as Publisher of Official Xbox Magazine. In 2002 the company turned its first ever profit since its inception, nine years ago. Most recently Jonathan has overseen the acquisition of Guitar World and its sibling publications Bass, Acoustic and Legends from Harris Publications as well as that of Guitar One from Cherry Lane Magazines.
Jonathan lives in the Bay Area with his wife and children. His personal credo is "Work hard. Give your best to the world." He unashamedly stole this from Yoko Ono. |
Tom Valentino

A CPA at Deloitte and Touche before getting into publishing in 1986. In 1992, he was named Chief Financial Officer and was an integral part of the team that joined forces with Future Publishing UK.
Tom's been working side by side with Jonathan since 1993. He's been involved with all financial and administrative aspects of the Company's change and growth including the merger with Future plc, the launch and spin-out of the company's internet properties in 1999, the sale of Business 2.0 and the subsequent company restructure in 2001, launches of over a dozen magazines and has actively participated with Jonathan in seeking out and closing acquisition deals. During his career at Future, in addition to Finance, Tom has also had oversight of all Administration functions including IT, Facilities and HR. In August 2006 Tom was named to a new position, Chief Operating Officer, with a brief of reviewing the company's overall operations and improving systems and processes.
Tom is a summa cum laude graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He now resides in the Bay Area with his wife and five children.

John Sutton
Chief Financial Officer

John joined Future US in August 2006 as the CFO. John began his career in Boston in 1985 working in Public Accounting, and moved to the bay area in 1988. After working in the San Francisco office of BDO Seidman, John began what has turned out to be a lengthy career in Finance at publishing companies. John worked for Miller Freeman (MFI) from 1993 until 2000 as the VP of Finance, and was there during a period of extraordinary growth for the company. John was an instrumental part of the acquisition team that helped acquire CMP Media and was also there for the integration of the two businesses. John also was an integral part of the management team that prepared a large portion of MFI for its eventual sale to VNU Media in 2000. After leaving MFI, John accepted a the role of CFO at Fawcette Technical Publications. John remained there for 5 challenging and rewarding years, just prior to coming to Future. John is a graduate of Boston College and currently lives in San Francisco.

Simon Whitcombe
Publishing Director, Games and Action Sports Group

With a career that spans over 14 years in the video gaming industry, Whitcombe has cultivated a sophisticated understanding of the market. He has leveraged his expertise to launch key Future US video gaming brands including Official Xbox Magazine and third highest ranked gaming Web site GamesRadar. He has also been instrumental in directing and developing market-leading titles including PSM: Independent PlayStation, PC Gamer and video game industry news Web site Next Generation.>
Throughout his prolific career, Whitcombe has a served at an impressive variety of media companies including Dennis Publishing in the UK and at such titles as Amiga Format, Edge, Total Nintendo and Zero Magazine. Directly prior to joining Future US, Whitcombe worked at IGN.com as Vice President/Network Director where was responsible for managing all aspects of the Web property including content strategy, acquisitions, marketing and revenue generation.
Whitcombe currently resides in San Francisco with his wife Alexis, son Owen and the family's pets. |
Richie Lesovoy
Production Director |
Richie joined Future US in March 1995 as Production Director. He began his magazine production career in the skyscrapers of New York City in 1977, and moved to the bay area in 1984, pursuing a magazine printing environment. After working for three years in the San Jose printing division of Arcata Graphics, and another three years in the pre-press arena at San Francisco's Balzer Shopes, Richie began a 17 year production career at California publishing companies. In 1989, Richie pioneered in-house pre-press at Research Magazine in San Francisco, providing film separations directly to magazine printers. He later went to work with multi-title BAM Publications in Pleasant Hill, CA.
A graduate of Brooklyn College, Richie was born and raised in Brooklyn. He currently lives in Foster City with his fiancé Cindy and his children, Allison, stepson Ian, wonderful dog Levi and has a daughter away at college at UC-Davis. He is an avid computer search bargain hunter pursuing the best rebate offers around. |
Nancy Durlester
Director of Human Resources

Nancy has over 17 years in the publishing field, beginning her career at InfoWorld magazine. Nancy joined Future US in 1997 as the IT Director. As the Director of Central Services, Nancy oversees the IT, Facilities, HR and Corporate Marketing departments.
Nancy is a graduate of California State University, Chico where she earned a BS in Mass Communications/Public Relations with a Minor in Business.
Nancy lives just below the fog in San Francisco. Her spare time is spent traveling to tropical destinations, scuba diving and caring for her slightly neurotic but very lovable rescue greyhound named Goody. |
Jon Phillips
Editorial Director

Jon has been with Future US since 1995, when he joined the company to serve as executive editor of The Net magazine. In 1997 he joined the staff of boot magazine, and when that PC technology title relaunched as Maximum PC, Jon became editor-in-chief and set new benchmarks in newsstand sales. In his current role of editorial director, Jon directly oversees the content development of Maximum PC, MacAddict, Windows Vista: The Official Magazine and Pregnancy. He also works with the editors of Future's gaming and action sports titles, and does forward-looking R&D to help the company explore other content areas. Jon is avid automotive enthusiast, and spends his leisure time on California race tracks -- the twisty kind -- driving sport and formula cars.

Brad Tolinski
Editorial Director

Born and raised in the suburbs of Detroit, Michigan, Brad Tolinski played guitar
and electric violin in numerous bands until it became painfully clear at the age
of 25 that he needed to find gainful employment. In the mid-Eighties he moved to
New York City and became the Managing Editor of the groundbreaking magazine
"Music, Computers & Software."
In 1989 he joined the staff of Guitar World magazine as Managing Editor and shortly
thereafter became Editor-In-Chief, a position he has held ever since. He currently
serves as Editorial Director of Future US's music division, which includes
Guitar World and Revolver.
Brad lives in New Jersey with his wife Lorinda Sullivan, his two
children Kane and Nico and his trusty dog, Jade.
