Editorial Offices To Shift From Atlanta To Future’s South San Francisco Headquarters; Magazine To Undergo Redesign In Early 2007
South San Francisco, CA – Award-winning journalist and women’s magazine veteran Ziba Kashef has been named the new editor-in-chief of Pregnancy, Future US, Inc.’s market-leading magazine for first-time moms. Kashef will take charge of the editorial reigns beginning with the magazine’s December 2006 issue.
Kashef, mother of a 3-year-old, is a 14-year veteran of the magazine industry, holding senior positions at such national titles as Essence and Parenting. She served as a senior health editor for more than four years at Essence, where her work garnered several journalism awards for the publication. She was also a prolific freelance writer with credits from such magazines as Health, Good Housekeeping, Ladies Home Journal, Modern Bride, Mother Jones and others. Her deep interest in health culminated in two nonfiction books, including a guide to alternative medicine and a book on skincare.
“I'm thrilled to lead a successful pregnancy magazine to becoming an even more topical, entertaining and beautiful guide for mothers-to-be and new moms,” said Kashef. “I'm particularly excited to deliver reassuring advice and guidance to women at a time in their lives when they need it most. I was once described as the 'happiest pregnant woman' on earth. I want our readers to experience the same joy and anticipation and to find in our pages the answers to the many questions they have."
In addition to naming Kashef head editor, Pregnancy will shift its editorial offices from the current Atlanta location to Future’s corporate headquarters in South San Francisco, also effective in December 2006. In 2007, the magazine will undergo a top-to-bottom graphic redesign, complete with a greater emphasis on in-depth, big-issue journalism. Advertising operations for the magazine will remain in Atlanta, with the main contact being sales manager Summer Stowe. Stowe can be reached at sstowe@futureus-inc.com or (678)-594-4052.
"Readers and advertisers alike will be thrilled with the changes we have planned for Pregnancy,” said editorial director Jon Phillips. “The magazine is already the leading authority for new moms, and under Ziba's leadership, we'll be raising the bar even higher. Each month, experts have new insights to share about the paths to healthier, happier pregnancies. Every month, manufacturers have new products that make pregnancy and motherhood easier, safer and more fun and rewarding. More than ever before, Pregnancy will be committed to covering all these discoveries and innovations."
