Senior Credit & Collections Analyst - South San Francisco, CA
Market-leading publisher of music, computer and video gaming magazines is seeking a motivated and dedicated Sr. Credit/Collection Analyst to work on high profile advertising and ad agency clients in the area of accounts receivable including credit, collections, billing, dispute reconciliation and payment/adjustment application
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Monitor and collect outstanding debt as directed regarding past due accounts
• Collect account balances within established payment terms and ensure past due accounts are routed through the proper escalation channels
• Achieve individual, department and company objectives with regard to cash collection and DSO targets, bad debt reserves, dispute claims and revenue forecasting
• Identify and resolve all client disputes and deductions in a timely manner; issue appropriate credit and debit memos accordingly
• Analyze and interpret complex advertising contracts and revenue forecasts for monthly invoicing and accruals
• Meet rigid billing and month-end accounting deadlines which may require occasional overtime
• Evaluate new requests for credit by investigating D&B reports and trade/bank references; review recommended credit lines and payment terms with management
• Maintain strong, effective working relationship with the sales organization and client base to maximize collection opportunity, rectify billing errors and resolve customer billing disputes
• Maintain communication flow of problem issues with A/R team, finance managers and sales reps
• Upkeep customer files in A/R system to ensure all contact information is current and accurate
• Identify and recommend areas for process improvement
• Assist management with system conversion/update projects and other projects as assigned
What We Require:
• Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting or finance strongly preferred
• Superior understanding of corporate credit & collection practices and policies
• Exceptional negotiation and collection skills
• Well developed verbal and written proficiency
• Excellent account reconciliation and problem solving skills
• Strong root cause analysis and process improvement skills
• Acute organization dexterity and keen attention to detail
• Ability to prioritize and multi-task while maintaining composure under high pressure conditions
• Ability to manage deadlines, lead projects independently and with team members
• Team player with professional disposition, good interpersonal skills and positive attitude
• Must have the ability to effectively and appropriately interface and communicate with a variety of individuals or groups on a frequent basis
• Must be able to work with minimal supervision displaying strong self-motivation
• Regularly exercises discretion and independent judgment in performing the creative and management aspects of the position
• 5+ years accounts receivable experience required with concentration in billing and collections
• PC literate with the ability to quickly learn new software and system platforms
• Online media, internet advertising and/or publishing industry experience strongly preferred
• Experience with Solomon and/or Lawson applications preferred
• Experience with Salesforce.com preferred
