Online Editor - Maximum PC, South San Francisco, CA
Maximum PC is looking for a fearless, self-starting, PC-obsessed editor to champion content development for MaximumPC.com. The Online Editor will report directly to the Editor-in-Chief, and will be responsible for writing, assigning, editing, and postings news, feature and how-to articles directly related to enthusiast-focused PC computing (i.e., PC hardware, software, gaming, operating systems, modding, etc, etc, ad infinitum). The ideal candidate will bring the following to the table:
• a geek-level understanding of PC hardware, software and games
• excellent writing and editing skills
• a surprising, entertaining writing voice
• a knack for generating creative, enterprising story ideas and headlines
• a talent for posting content quickly and prolifically
• effective management of freelance writers and the budget with which we pay them
• a healthy appetite for change and innovation, and a high threshold for trail-and-error
• experience with online content management systems, or the ability to learn a CMS very quickly
• that special knack for creating sticky-bloggy web postings that garner clicks and link referrals far and wide.
